So what resources, skills, and knowledge would I need to be able to rewrite portions of the MC-505s firmware? I'd like to be able to load sound files (not real-time sampling, just loading. It's not a badly-made instrument at all, and I think it'd be sweet to hack a cheap, outdated, and common piece of equipment into something really useful. I found it while moving and recently started thinking about what could be done with it to make it a useful part of a live techno setup. Then I got Ableton and forgot all about my lowly Groovebox. I picked my 505 up for a couple years ago with a busted screen and some wonky encoders. ![]() I see tons of Roland MC 303s and 505s on eBay for pretty cheap. ![]()
